Systems Analyst

The System Analyst will work very closely with the stakeholders and be responsible for translating business requirements into technical system requirements and getting involved with the related documentation that surrounds it. You will help to design new IT solutions, modify, enhance or adapt existing systems and integrate new features or improvements in order to improve business efficiency and productivity. You will be working very closely with the development team and the testing teams, so an understanding and appreciation of these processes would be ideal in that you will need to understand how these teams slot into business needs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience working in systems or business analysis and system design
  • Experience writing functional and business specifications with the ability to write technical specifications
  • Examine current systems and document the interfaces and data flows.
  • Review code and system interfaces and extracts to handle the migration of data between systems/databases
  • Producing specifications for new or modified systems
  • Liaising with other IT staff such as programmers/developers to produce new systems.
  • A strong demonstrable record of customer service
  • Understand customer needs and build effective relationships
  • Convey plans, issues and concerns to clients and team members in clear, logical and concise manner
  • Must be customer driven, have the ability to work within a team environment, and be focused on providing a high quality of service to the customer
  • Develop technical and functional test plans and scripts to validate the successful design, development and implementation of system and reporting deliverables and obtain user sign-off
  • Trouble-shooting and root cause analysis of application problems
  • Authoring documentation (e.g. Process Models, Requirements Catalogue, Root Cause Diagrams, SIPOC, Business Case & Business Requirements Specification)
  • Demonstrable ability to work independently on multiple tasks with commitment and willingness to see issues through to resolution
  • To work with a range of internal stakeholders and customers, including academic colleagues, department administrators, students, and professional services, on a variety of business change projects.
  • To use change management tools and techniques to support the delivery of technical solutions for business process improvements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Significant experience in systems analysis.
  • Demonstrable experience of producing specifications for new or modified systems.
  • Experience of successfully delivering some level of business process change
  • Must have worked on 5 Business Change Programmes or Projects
  • Working with internal company staff members, external suppliers & external customers
  • Organised, professional and with a "can do" attitude
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, and written communication skills, with the ability to present clear, concise and convincing information, opinions and decisions.
  • Proven problem solving skills, using a systematic and analytical approach.
  • Flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure whilst ensuring attention to detail.
  • High level of capability with MS Office applications, including MS Teams, Sharepoint; as well as other supporting applications/software, such as Jira, ServiceNow.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Experience of working for an IT consultancy
  • (BCS) Systems analysis and design
  • Degree in the field of computer science, information technology, engineering or information systems.
