We are seeking a skilled Data Governance Manager to lead, overseeand manage the governance framework for our client. The ideal candidate will catalogue, monitor and identify key datasets, assign ownership of data, ensure compliance
with regulatory requirements and maintain effective governance practices.
Duties & responsibilities
- Design andimplement practical data governance policies and procedures that support
organisational needs. - Monitor and evaluate existing governance structures
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with governance objectives
- Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with governance standard
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve thequality and trustworthiness of data in the organisation.
- Implement and advise on the establishment of wider datamanagement competencies within the organisation such as – data Quality, metadata management, master data management, data modelling and the development of data standards and data strategy.
- Provide guidance on governance matters to senior management
- Manage risk assessment processes related to governance issues
- Establish data governance controls over data, including data ownership, access controls,
data validation rules, and data retention policies - Define andenforce data quality standards and procedures against data quality dimensions and integrity
- Work withthe business to minimise data risks and increase data literacy
- Implementdata privacy and security measures to protect sensitive information.
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience in governance management
- Exceptional knowledge and experience in data lifecycle management, data modeling, and ensuring data quality and integrity
- Ability to develop and implement data governance policies and align them with business objectives
- Strong understanding of quality assurance principles
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of data architecture, databases, and storage solutions
- Familiarity with data-related regulations and compliance standards such as GDPR and HIPAA.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve data issues
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with UK public sector clients or local government
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Data ManagementProfessional (CDMP)
